I am off to a cabin on the lake and will not be back until Tuesday. Then the posts will be flowing.
My First Adbrite Campaign Tally
I have paused my adbrite campaign so I can go ahead and start working on putting something up on the domain other than the Rhapsody content ad. I won’t call the campaign a compete failure because I learned a ton and it cost me less than 5 bucks. Here are the highlights.
Mac CPC = $.10 Total Clicks = 54, Total Cost=$3.42, Avg CPC = $.06, Impressions 893,539, CTR .01%
The part that seems strange to me is 54 people clicked the add, “Try Rhapsody Free For 14 Days” but none of them converted. I am guessing they got to the enter your credit card info part and then quit.
Now it is time to start on project 2.
My first Real Search Engine Optimization Project
After months of research at various sites and blogs, I am starting my first search engine optimization project. I am working on a company website that doesn’t even show up in Google until the 39th page when you use their name as the search term. The site is old and when it was created no one had any idea what SEO was. Here are my starting stats from my handy SEO Firefox extension.
PR: 3 | Age: 04-2001 | Links: 63 | .edu Links: 0 | .edu Page Links: 0 | .gov Links: 0 | Page Links: 34 | del.icio.us: 0 | Technorati: - | Alexa: 3,199,266 | Cached: 19 | dmoz: 0 | Bloglines: 0 | dir.yahoo.com: - | Whois
This should be a very fun project and I can’t wait to see those numbers improving. I want raise the position in the search engines for the company name, but my strategy also includes getting the company to rank well for terms that prospective customers may be searching for. That will be a little more difficult, but I certainly think I can do it.
I am going to post updates about what I am doing and the kind of results I am getting so check back.
